Labyrinth

Classes

“The labyrinth is truly a tool for transformation. It is a crucible for change, a blueprint for the sacred meeting of psyche and soul, a field of light, a cosmic dance. It is a center for empowering ritual.”

Description of the unfolding vision of this area.

Note: Pictures may take a few moments to load

We have constructed a labyrinth in an area of the property dubbed The Pulse (vision)

Vision of this area is Peace.

Mission is to provide the environment and tools for you to connect with your Inner Self.

Purpose is to be an environment for each person to come to find his/her center, to realize his/her nature and to be inspired to live his/her Higher Self as life.

This process can be called taking your Pulse. I see it as harmonizing your Life Pulse with Life’s Pulse.

The design we are using is a Rounded Concentric Circle design. Ours has a 56’ diameter. The Concentric Circle is the original design that is based on a pattern first documented on a clay tablet from Pylos, Greece (circa 1200 BCE) and also found on Cretan Coins of 400 to 500 BCE, these labyrinths are easily constructed using a seed pattern.

Policy Usage:

The labyrinth is available at all times unless there is a pre-planned event. Come walk it. I just ask that groups call ahead to reserve.

Please leave a donation.

Benefits:

Equated with the brain, many cultures believed that the labyrinth could cure illness. Today, the labyrinth is known to have a curative effect on certain ailments by producing a sense of well-being and balance through a type of vestibular stimulation, accessing both left and right hemispheres of the brain.

Research conducted by Dr. Herbert Benson at Harvard Medical School has found focused walking meditations are highly efficient at reducing anxiety and eliciting what Dr. Benson calls the 'relaxation response'. This effect has significant long term health benefits, including lower blood pressure and breathing rates, reduced incidents of chronic pain, reduction of insomnia, improved fertility, and many other benefits

History:

The Labyrinth at The Top of The Hill is a Round Classical, seven circuit, labyrinth that was developed from the 5,000 yr old Cretan Labyrinth. Labyrinths have long been used as meditation and prayer tools. There are labyrinths depicted in Hopi Indian cave drawings, Tibetan sand paintings, and on the floors of some of the world's most celebrated cathedrals.

A labyrinth is an ancient symbol that relates to wholeness. It has only one path. It is unicursal. The way in is the way out. It combines the imagery of the circle and the spiral into a meandering but purposeful path. The labyrinth represents a journey to our own center and back again out into the world. Seven circuits refers to the seven paths that lead to the center.

In recent years, labyrinths have been featured on the front page of the New York Times, and in television series Touched By An Angel and Oz. They have been built on the grounds of schools, in medical facilities such as Johns Hopkins Hospital, and at San Francisco's Grace Cathedral.
