History:
The Labyrinth at The Top of The Hill is a Round Classical, seven circuit, labyrinth that was developed from
the 5,000 yr old Cretan Labyrinth. Labyrinths have long been used as meditation and prayer tools. There are labyrinths depicted in Hopi Indian cave drawings, Tibetan sand paintings, and on the floors of
some of the world's most celebrated cathedrals.
A labyrinth is an ancient symbol that relates to wholeness. It has only one path. It is unicursal. The way
in is the way out. It combines the imagery of the circle and the spiral into a meandering but purposeful path. The labyrinth represents a journey to our own center and back again out into the world.
Seven circuits refers to the seven paths that lead to the center.
In recent years, labyrinths have been featured on the front page of the New York Times, and in
television series Touched By An Angel and Oz. They have been built on the grounds of schools, in medical facilities such as Johns Hopkins Hospital, and at San Francisco's Grace Cathedral.
